Beacon set to host first ever Game of II Halves Conference

Our Game of II Halves programme which aims to raise awareness around mental health issues and suicide prevention is set to host its first evert conference at the Beacon of Light.

On Friday 9 September and in connection to World Suicide Prevention Day, the conference will welcome partners and members of the public alike who may be interested in learning more about the above topics.

The conference will be supporting the World Suicide Prevention Day theme of 'Creating Hope through Action'.

Guest speakers Kathy Mckenna-Churchill, from Washington MIND, will deliver a presentation on bereavement, while Matthew Williams, Director at Knock Out Depression CIC will be the keynote speaker and will deliver a presentation on hope.

There will be opportunities to ask the panel questions and share good practice through individuals lived experiences. Local services will be on hand to help attendees with signposting as well as raising awareness to their own services. Services confirmed include Sunderland Samaritans, Sunderland Psychological and Wellbeing Service, The Little Company of Calm, Healthy Minds Team and more!

The conference will take place from 5-8pm, where light refreshments will be available for all delegates. There is plenty of parking available at the Stadium of Light with a short walk to the Beacon of Light.
